da mrbet: Newcastle United have now reportedly sent scouts to join a seven-club Premier League race to sign a Ligue 1 attacker for Eddie Howe this month.

Eddie Howe bemoans PSR limits

da cassino: Despite selling Alexander Isak for a Premier League-record fee in the summer, Newcastle are still limited by Profit and Sustainability rules in the January transfer window. And in the middle of a season full of inconsistency, that’s the last thing that the Magpies needed to contend with.

There are still a number of gaps in quality in Howe’s squad, with injuries only exposing just how little depth the former Bournemouth boss has to turn to at St James’ Park.

One example is the injury to Tino Livramento, which has forced Newcastle to deploy young Lewis Miley at right-back in recent weeks. Whilst he has done an exceptional job, it shows how little it takes for Newcastle to be left turning to emergency solutions.

Howe once again raised PSR limitations ahead of this weekend’s action, telling reporters: “I am not panicking. That is the worst thing you can do in the transfer market – make rash decisions.

“We have our strategy. PSR is controlling what we are able to do. “I think we understand that gives us limited room to maneuver to try to bring a player in that’s good enough to elevate the group and have a long-term future at the football club with the finances we have.

“It is very, very difficult so let’s see what happens in the last few days. Anything can happen from this point onwards, but certainly we will try not to panic and find the right balance.”

It’s not for the want of trying from Newcastle, either. The Magpies have reportedly been targeting moves for the likes of Can Uzun and have now joined the race for a Ligue 1 attacker.

Newcastle join race to sign Mohamed Kader Meite

In terms of price, those in England’s top tier may have to pay around €40m (£35m) to sign Meite this month, given that’s what Al-Hilal reportedly offered Stade Rennais to sign their young talent.

Rather than joining the Saudi Pro League, however, Meite is reportedly keen to stay put in European football in a major boost for Newcastle and Co.

Praised for his “great movement and box instincts” by U23 scout Antonio Mango last year, Newcastle could snap up the future of their frontline in Meite.
